Half-Resolution issue on DV Type1 files

Some of you guys reported that on certain configurations Video2Photo captures Half-Resolution (360x288 or 360x240) stills.

What's wrong?

Sorry but this is not really Video2Photo's fault.
Type1 DV-files are normally decoded by the Microsoft DV Codec (or using a third party codec in some configurations)
Thoose codecs displays by default the video only in half resolution.

However I can provide two hints around this problem for Video2Photo users:
1. Capture/use Type2 files (this would be recommended for future)
2. This solution is only if you use a Microsoft DV Codec (The majority of configurations have this by default)
Download and start the following registry file to set the MS-DV codec to high-resolution. hires.reg

Video2Photo on CD

Video2Photo will appear in a special edition of c't Magazine (german magazine).
If you plan to get Video2Photo togheter with other coole utilities for Digital Video you can order the magazine here.

Note (added on December 2003): The magazine is now available.

Getting Pictures from your VideoCDs and S-VideoCDs

To get pictures from youd S-Video CD or VideoCD just open the
AVSEQ01.MPG or AVSEQ01.DAT in MPEG2 or MPEGAV folder of your CD Drive.

To get pictures from a S-Video CD you need an MPEG-2 decoder installed (usually bundled with a DVD Player Software).

One decoder which I recommend is:
MoonLight Elecard MPEG-2 Decoder

VideoCDs needs an MPEG-1 decoder which is bundled in all current versions of Windows/DirectX (XP, 2000, ME, 98)

On 1st October I received an e-mail from c't Magazin:

"... Dear Software Author,

The German computer magazine c't will publish a special issue
(subject: digital video) which includes a CD ROM with
corresponding freeware and shareware programs (publishing date:
winter 2003). Your software "Video2Photo" has been
pre-selected to be put on this CD ROM. Some of the programs are
also to be included on a CD ROM for the Dutch edition of c't."

I hope that the registration process will succeed and some of you can find Video2Photo on the CD. Stay tunned...

AviSynth Support

AviSynth is a simple but powerful frame server. I just got the idea to support AVISynth. It seems that the basic problem of supporting AVISynth is seeking video. AVS files cannot be currently seeked to get the frames. Maybe I need to use another interface or maybe AVISynth doesn't support such interface at all. Any ideas?!
Otherwise I need to find an workaround.
